Price

The strength of the euro against the dollar has wreaked havoc with traditional price guidelines but the following should shield you from serious shock.

Inexpensive–Neighborhood bistros and wine bars often featuring a lunch formule of entrée, plat or plat, dessert at around 15 euros with a good selection of wines by the glass or pichet.

Moderate–Full meals from 30-50 euros per person + wine

Expensive–50-100 +wine. Lunch  formules are a great way to painlessly savor the experience.

Haute Cuisine/Very Expensive–White tablecloth, high ratio of staff to diner, renowned chef, extensive cave of great wines. 100 euros per person + wine. Lunch  formules are a great way to savor the experience without breaking the bank.

Tipping is included in the price and  not required but at an inexpensive bistro 1 euro per person will be appreciated if you are satisfied with the service or when paying cash round up.

At a moderate bistro depending on the size of the check, quality of service and duration of the meal 2-5 euros total will leave you in good stead.

At an expensive spot 5 to 10 euros will suffice.

An Haute Cuisine/ Very Expensive Michelin-starred restaurant warrants 20-30 euros.
