I was meeting the PR agent extraordinaire, MM (Marysse Masse) for lunch at one of her favorites. Just a few blocks from L’Etoile it’s a quietly elegant spot that attracts business types and the odd romantic couple at lunch. Evenings are decidedly more romantic.

MM opted to start with a woodsy fricassee de girolles et shitakes and I was intrigued by sashimi of daurade royale seasoned with wasabi and sesame. We selected a light, Cote de Grisey, red burgundy from Alain Mathy.

The main course was a filet of swordfish with crevette gris and shitakes in a Thai curry redolent of lemongrass-simply refreshing and filling.

MM’s pupils dilated in anticipation of a compot of mirabelles avec vanille de Madagascar. As a fig fanatic I couldn’t resist the nage d’Oranges et figues.

For a mere 39 euros + a selection of wines at 8 euros the glass, Caius is worth many repeat visits.
