Flaneur au Marais

Once upon a time the Marais brought to mind  the historic Jewish Quarter and the vestiges of the Nazi Occupation. They are still here but the expanding Greater Marais now includes the Marché de Richard-Lenoir at the Bastille, the shops along the Boulevard Beaumarchais, the rue Bretagne, the Musée de Carnavalet and the falafel flavors of the rue des Rosiers.

They are still here but the expanding Greater Marais now includes the Marché de Richard-Lenoir at the Bastille, the shops along the Boulevard Beaumarchais, the rue Bretagne, the Musée de Carnavalet and the falafel flavors of the rue des Rosiers.

Now that I have moved into the Quartier I have learned to enjoy her varied experiences and look forward to sharing them with you as a Flaneur in the Marais.

lefevreWe will meet at the St Paul metro and follow the  rue Vieille du Temple to where it intersects with the rue des Rosiers, visit the Place des Vosges and arrive at the bustling Marché Richard Lenoir.

After lunch at a seasonally appropriate bistro we will continue along Beaumarchais and eventually wind up on the trendy rue de Bretagne, if you are not plum tuckered out.

As always with any day of flanérie we will meet the personalities and shopkeepers of the quartier including Marc Lefevre at his shop featuring antique postcards, posters and advertising tchochkas from the belle époque

Merci-concept-store-paris-thatsmeeand I will inform and entertain you with historical, literary and cinematic anecdotes perhaps over coffee at my hang in the hood, MAISON Plisson.
