An Evening with Tom Sancton-The Bettencourt Affair and New Orleans Jazz

in Events

From 1992 to 2001 Tom was Paris bureau chief for TIME Magazine  , where worked for 22 years. His extensive coverage for Vanity Fair of The Bettencourt Affair and its impact on French society and politics sparked this full length book.
His acclaimed memoir, Song for My Fathers: a New Orleans Story in Black and White , recounts his early life among traditional jazzmen in his native .
It is quite likely that everyone reading this has had a connection to L'Oréal, either as a user of their products or as someone who was dispensed to the local pharmacy or department store to buy a product for their spouse: I was married to L'Oréal 33 (Ash Blonde.)
Heiress to the nearly forty-billion-dollar L'Oréal fortune, Liliane Bettencourt is the world's richest woman and the fourteenth wealthiest person. But her gilded life has taken a dark yet fascinating turn in the past decade. At ninety-four, she's now embroiled in what has been called the Bettencourt Affair, a scandal that dominated the headlines in France. Why?
Join me and Tom on Tuesday Oct 3 at 7:30 for a buffet dinatoire
(Charcuterie, Paté, Fromage and wine)
and presentation
