Stacey, Tex and Laneil at Guy Savoy

I’m stuffed, but with some of the best and most beautiful food I have ever eaten. Today I had an incredible almost three and a half hour lunch with Tex and her friend Laneil at Michelin starred Restaurant Guy Savoy in the Monnaie de Paris (The Mint) on Quai de Conti in the 6th. We had a table overlooking the Quai, perfect service and exquisitely prepared food. The restaurant was mostly dark gray, neutral and elegant. I tried to take pictures without making a scene. We started with a Coupe de Champagne and fois gras amuse bouche. We were also given tiny, delicate stuffed tomatoes and a creamy cold soup (I don’t recall the ingredients).

Chef Savoy came to our table to greet us. He is very charming.

The degustation on the menu looked like too much food so with the guidance of our waiter, we assembled something with fewer courses. We drank Auxey-Duresses, a lovely white burgundy. Our lunch was a gourmet treat…everything was delicious. Stacey Christie

Aside from the totally horrific price, the food at Guy Savoy was sensational, and very creative.  Guy stopped by himself to greet our table.  The interior design (dark, dark grey and black), I found offputting, but I guess you’re supposed to be concentrating on what’s on the plate-Laneil Gregory
