Uber, uber alles and Paris au Flaneur

Robert, Nancy, Madeleine and Benjamin boarded their Uber car headed for SFO. Jeff, the friendly driver, inquired as to their destination and  they replied:”Paris.” To which he said: “My wife just got back from a month in Paris and told me that the highlight of her trip was her meetings with Terrance Gelenter, Your American Friend in Paris.

In this world of instant communication they were able to access my website and book a tour before they got to the airport.

We met in front of Les Deux Magots for a classic tour au Flaneur. It was a glorious day, sunny and hot.  Armed with water bottles that were replenished at Wallace fountains, sun-screen all around and stops for coffee for Robert and ice cream for everyone else it was a perfectly delightful day punctuated by a ride on the Grand Roue (Ferris Wheel) from which we could see all of the Paris that we had visited and all that remained.

Wine and lunch at a bistro in the Marchée de Saint-Honoré climaxed a splendid day of new acquaintance.

Merci Ginger.

This is not meant to be a blanket endorsement of Uber as France is having difficulty adapteing to the modern world but it might be a good listen for Taxi drivers.

Chuck Gallagher makes some good points.
